  • From a Mother's Heart

Joy can be found in the midst of cold snowy winters

Our Christmas morning snow was so beautiful; it was breathtaking. Something so rare for us here in East Tennessee. Then the snow we had during the second week in January seemed to stay with us longer than usual. Here where I live next to the mountain, we had snow on the ground for 12 days before it all melted.

  • On Higher Ground

Reminders that God really does hear us as we pray

“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1).

How about a remembrance from the hot summertime to provide a little warmth here in the dead of winter?

  • Faithful Words

Giving an answer for the faith within us

“Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you….” (See I Peter 3:13-16, RSV).

The Apostle Peter wrote his first epistle to Christians who were scattered and under persecution. They were being sought-out and harassed because of what they believed and how they lived. In the early going, Rome was not a “Christian Empire.”

  • Spiritually Speaking

I have written many times about Galatians 5:22-23 naming the fruit of the Spirit. There are nine fruits listed, of course the first one is love, the greatest one. When we think of fruit we think of something that is produced, it is noticeable and you can see it.

Sometimes life really does imitate art.

    Well mine does anyway.

And last Friday was a prime example of it.

  • In the schools

Do you remember when you were in school?

Do you remember your first teacher?

Do you remember your principal’s name?

Do you remember the teachers who made you feel important?
