Yes, after 30 years, I decided to do some smoking again - cigarettes, that is.  After all, I needed a break. My husband’s recovery has been slow in this latest hospital stay - it’s frustrating and discouraging to watch, sitting by his bed day after day. Then there are the multitude of things to do that are just piling up back at the farm, and the decisions to make that could profoundly impact both our lives.

What do we choose to worship?

I often find myself writing an article pertaining to a current Sunday school lesson. If you do a little studying, the thoughts stay in your mind. The scripture was about Asa, he was the sixth King since Israel started having Kings.

There were 33 Kings that did evil in the sight of God and nine that did right. II Chronicles 14:2-4 gives this account of Asa; “And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God.

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Isaiah 60:1-3, RSV)

Somehow we must have known this one was going to be a girl. We were agreed on a girl’s name but not a boy’s. Susanna. A combination of Susan, Anne, and Nancy, three girls who had had a significant impact on my wife Marcia.

The light of the fact that Jesus is coming again, what kind of people ought we be?

In II Peter, the third chapter, the Apostle Peter was teaching about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In (verse 11), he asked this question, “What manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?” (verse 14)  Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
