CCHS basketball hosting games tonight, June 6

The Campbell County High School basketball team will be hosting two games tonight, Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m.

Both Clinton and Knott County Central High School (Ky.) will be participating in the pre-season scrimmages.

Clinton and Knott County will start things off at 4 p.m., as Campbell County will take on Clinton directly after.

Knott County will play Campbell County following the District 3-AAA rematch of last season’s close games.

JACKSBORO – Not even a month out of its final game, Campbell County is already back to the grind on the baseball diamond.

The Cougars have started summer ball, which most think will help the team’s chances in the 2014 campaign.

NICKAJACK LAKE, CHATTANOOGA - Chris Shouse and Dakota Kirk’s day at the Student Anglers Federation’s Tennessee High School State Tournament didn’t go quite as planned.

With weather being the biggest threat at the tournament, original ideas changed for many of the anglers in the 70-boat tournament.

For Shouse and Kirk, the story was no different.

NICKAJACK LAKE, CHATTANOOGA – For two Campbell County High School fishermen, it was a chance to prove themselves.

Caleb Dople and Zach Paul are two freshmen who have proven they have what it takes, only being edged by juniors Nick Wells and Jordan Bruce in the Anglers of the Year competition this season.

The duo have bigger fish to fry in their next three seasons at Campbell County High School.

NICKAJACK LAKE, CHATTANOOGA – Anytime a fish breaks off, it’s a hard day for an angler.

However, for Aaron Sanders and Jake Clowers, the day was infinitely harder during Saturday’s Student Anglers Federation’s Tennessee High School State Tournament.

“We had two or three big ones break off,” Sanders said. “It was devastating. We just said, ‘We’ll get the next one,’ and go on.

Campbell County Summer Baseball

The Campbell County High School summer baseball team will host Powell. The nine-inning, DH rule game will begin at 6 p.m.

Twist N Shout Tryouts

Twist N Shout will be having tryouts for ages 5 through 18. Cheer tryouts will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., as the Hip Hop Dance tryouts will last from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Kimberly Harris at 566-1582.

 

No boating fatalities on Memorial Day weekend for third consecutive year

NASHVILLE–The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reporting that there were no boating-related fatalities reported over the 2013 Memorial Day holiday weekend. It marks the third consecutive year that the unofficial weekend start to the summer boating season has been free of boating fatalities.
During the Memorial Day holiday period from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27, there were eight total reported boating accidents for the second straight year. Three of the accidents resulted in injuries and the other five were property damage accidents.
