A former Campbell County High School educator who resigned Jan. 28 after allegations of inappropriate conduct was jailed early Sunday morning after police say he was found driving under the influence.
Jason Scott Ivey, 34, 282 Meadowwood Circle, LaFollette, was seen driving on Central Avenue in the dark without his headlights. The officer, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy James McCall,  allegedly witnessed Ivey attempt a lane change and nearly strike another vehicle.

An earlier incident at the Jellico Electric and Water System led to a warrant for an arrest last week.
On April 25, Billy Rowe, the utility’s general manager, and Woody Swafford, the water department supervisor, advised Jellico Police Chief Chris Anderson about an incident in which an employee’s wife reportedly came to the building and threatened another employee.

 The town of Jellico spent nearly two weeks in the red last summer as finance problems slowly came to a head.

It was May when the town first became overdrawn, according to bank statements obtained by the LaFollette Press. 

The statements are records of only some of the town’s accounts according to Mayor Les Stiers.

“That’s for most of the accounts, not all of them,” he said. 

Four people arrested during the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department Operation Spring Cleaning in March pleaded  in court on Monday to their charges.
Melvin Eugene Lee Jr., also known as Screw, was originally charged with six counts of sale or delivery of a schedule VI controlled substance. He pleaded guilty to sale of a schedule VI drug and casual/exchange of marijuana. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit from time served since March 25, four years supervised probation, court costs, restitution and $7,000 in fines.
