  • Ashley Wyrick and Ben Marlow were married July 10 at McCloud Mountain Resort, Duff. Rev. Daniel Deck of Knoxville performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Barbara and Brian Ferguson of Madison, AL and Cindy and Tim Wyrick of Sevierville.  The groom is the son of Harrison Marlow and Mary Ledwell, both of Jacksboro.

  • Happy 10th Anniversary to Randy and Sandra White on Sept. 2.

  • Katrina Danielle Myers and Joshua Adam Johnson were united in marriage on Aug. 13 in a private ceremony in Negril, Jamaica. The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Connie Myers. She is the granddaughter of Betty and the late Carl Myers and Della and the late Vernal Summers. The groom is the son of Roger and Linda Johnson. He is the grandson of Lois and the late Johnny Johnson. A reception was held for the couple following their return to celebrate with family and friends. The couple resides in LaFollette.
     

  • Lately I have been confronted by several people who have asked me how I feel about hell.
    It is a very sobering thought to realize that hell is real and not everyone will go to Heaven.
    But the word of God makes it clear that hell is just as real as Heaven.
    Many believe a loving God would not send anyone to hell. Let me point out two things that you may not have thought of.

  • Mount Paran Baptist will host its 2010-11 AWANA Club kickoff to be held at the Mount Paran Family Life Center on Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. This is for all of the kids and teens that plan to attend the AWANA Club for the 2010-2011 school year. There will be food, drinks, games, and a whole lot of fun to celebrate this new AWANA Club year. For more information call 562-1633.


    Coolidge First Baptist church will be having homecoming on Aug. 29 at 10:30. Mike and Cathy Torrence will be singing. Homecoming dinner will be served after the service.

  • Have you ever been lonely, even in a crowd? Your loneliness may even be more intense around other people. They are all laughing and talking and enjoying each other’s company, while you stand watching, not knowing a soul.  But then someone steps up to you and begins a conversation. The whole world takes on a more pleasant character.

    Most good biographies, whether describing a statesman, a celebrity, an athlete, or a missionary, follow a basic pattern. There is a description of the individual’s past, an investigation of the individual’s position, and a declaration of the individual’s purpose in life.
