  • The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (E.T.H.R.A.) will be distributing USDA Commodities on June 8, at the LaFollette Community Center. Starting time is 8:30 a.m., lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. It will end at 2:30 p.m. or when the food is gone. Bring a box and some one to carry the food.   • The Abbott Church of Lick Creek will have a benefit yard sale for Rachel Bolton on June 8 starting at 10 a.m. The money will go for a operation on her arm in Missouri.

    The House of Prayer of the Living God is having a benefit singing for Rachel Bolton. The singing will be June 9 at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go to help the family with travel and expenses for her trip to Missouri for her operation.

    Remembering Graduation and Strawberries

    Many memories come to my mind this time of year about graduation and strawberries. To let you know what I am referring to we moved out in the country in April 1973. The next year May 1974 we had a wonderful crop of strawberries. Bob had planted them the previous year.

  • American Legion Post 280 is looking for all veterans that want to have a home post and are willing to help DAVs, veteran dependents, toy runs, special functions, and benefits. Contact the post commander or service officer at (865) 426-4700. All nominations for 2012 officers at Post 280 American Legion must be in no later than May. The election will be held in June.
    The Norris Lake Flotilla will be offering free vessel safety checks at Deerfield Marina on June 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Beginning on June 3 Chaska Church of God will hold a revival. 6 p.m. on Sundays and 7 p.m. weeknights. Different speakers will be featured every night.
    Campbell County Preacher’s fellowship service for the month of June will be hosted by The Bear Wallow Baptist Church in Caryville on June 4 at 7 p.m.
