  • Little things, commitment slow...

Coming out of the first quarter on Friday night, it looked like Jellico was in fine shape, trailing only 14-8.

However, with three minutes left in the second quarter, those little mistakes became the big talk for the Blue Devils, as they fell 55-8.

Josh Lay, who returned it to the Bobcat 26-yard line, stripped Oliver Spring’s Shawn Childress of the ball. On Jellico’s next play, they gave it back to the Bobcats.

  • Oneida snaps Jacksboro's...

Oneida had more options than the Sears catalog.

Running a single-wing offense, the Indians found a way to snap the Eagles’ five-game winning streak last Thursday night in the battle of unbeatens.

Oneida compiled 400 yards across the ground on 56 carries, while using 10 different runners en route to a 34-6 victory.

  • Egg Bowl set for Thursday night

This one shouldn’t go over easy.

The 12th annual Egg Bowl is set for tonight (Thursday) as the LaFollette Owls travel to Jacksboro Middle School to take on the Eagles in what some are calling the “biggest game of the year.”

The battle is set for 7 p.m., and it is already boiling up to be a good one.

Since the beginning of the season, the Owls have scrambled from an 0-3 record at the start. Winning three straight, LaFollette will come into this game totally even at 3-3.

  • Taylor finishes 35th in state...

Campbell County High School junior Lindsay Taylor competed in the Class AAA state golf tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 25-26 in Manchester.

On Tuesday, however, she bounced back, combining her two-day total for an overall 179 score. That score was good enough for 35th place out of the 56 competitors.
