FARRAGUT—Campbell County has started it’s season off with some tough competition.

The Cougars traveled to Farragut High School on Tuesday morning to face off with the Admirals in the first 7-on-7 scrimmage of the season.

For the coaches and players, it was a welcome sign to see.

It worked for the University of Tennessee, so why won’t it work for Campbell County High School?

The Cougars had played Powell Valley High School in the mid-80s and early 90s, but the team hasn’t played the new version of Cumberland Gap High School.

However, on Aug. 23, it’s all going to change. Cumberland Gap will come to L. Hope Dossett Stadium to face off in a border battle atmosphere in Campbell County’s first game of the season.

With such a close new rival, what better way to welcome them than with a full stadium?

Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.

    ―Alexander Pope

The last few days have been some of the most challenging days while in the mission field.

Remember last week when I was talking about expectations? Yea, well I believe I set myself up again to realize that God is the only one that needs to set expectations. He continues to blow me away.

It’s the dawning of a new era for Campbell County High School, as Lance Albright prepares to create the new mural for John R.W. Brown Gymnasium.

The 30-year old graduated from Campbell County High School in 2000 and says its an honor to be chosen as the one to paint the walls.

JACKSBORO-As the cougar murals in John R.W. Brown Gymnasium were covered up, many Campbell County High School alumni had mixed emotions about the subject.

The murals, which have been inside the gym for more than 30 years, were covered up last Monday to make way for a new mural to be painted by Lance Albright.

One thing everyone could agree on: Albright is the man for the job.

As the Campbell County murals come off the walls, it brings mixed emotions to many.

For me personally, it’s the same boat.

Things are continually changing, going from their old ways to new. However, sometimes those need to happen.

It’s something we don’t think about.

How many times have different players, fans and faculty walked into John R.W. Brown Gymnasium and only glanced at the murals?

They’ve become a fixture – something we rarely notice as we walk into the gymnasium.
