In old days, ships were warned about the dangers of entering The Bermuda Triangle.

That same warning should go out for golfers entering the Barrens Triangle.

The seven-hole “natural triangle” at the Willowbrook Golf Course in Manchester became one of the hardest stretches for the high school competitors.

Campbell County’s Lindsay Taylor was in that mix. Withing that stretch, Taylor found an eight-over-par performance.

Although the Oct. 3 Fields of Faith is set to be on the football field, the Campbell County student-athletes are already working to fill the stadium to capacity. With an expectancy of well over 1,000 people, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is already excited.

Campbell County native Greg Kitts made his name known on the national level.

Playing for Tennessee Tech University, Kitts climbed the charts of the top Division I schools to grab a 16th place finish in the 54-hole Mason Rudolph Men’s Championship hosted by Vanderbilt University at The Legends Golf Course.

His best day in the tournament this past weekend was Sunday, when the junior shot for a one-under-par 70 to make his move up the leaderboard. His one bogey and two birdie round was the best day in his consistent round.

Jellico to host homecoming

This Friday night, Jellico High School will have their homecoming. The Blue Devils look to take on Oliver Springs in the big game. The team is looking for a lot of support from fans this Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
