CCSD busts three meth labs in four days

The county’s meth epidemic shows no signs of slowing.

Beginning last Thursday Campbell County Sheriff’s Detectives and deputies were successful in making arrests in three meth lab cases in four days.

On Feb. 10 Detective Sgt. John Long received information from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit about possible drug activity at the Motel 6 in Caryville.

Amendments and resolutions bring changes to Caryville

The Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen considered amendments to the personnel policy Monday night. Some of the changes brought the town in alignment with state regulations and others were functional corrections.

The Tennessee Municipal League (TML) suggested a change to article one of the policies. The change is a non-harassment policy, placing the town in line with other municipalities, according to Mayor Robert Stooksbury.

Bus driver suspended; parents to be reimbursed for milage

When a bus driver was suspended last week some students in the Roses Creek community found themselves without transportation for the nearly 10 mile trek to school.

While bus driver Mary Osborne claims she was slapped with a five day suspension for merely following “board policy and state law” Clayton Ray, transportation supervisor, said there was more to the story.

TVA gives glimpse into future of generating power

For the first time in over 10 years Norris Dam opened its doors for a tour of the facility. Though the structure hasn’t changed since it was completed in 1936, the Tennessee Valley Authority has a different vision for the future.

Jacksboro falls off the Sunday wagon

Loved ones remembered at Red Dress event

 The Red Dress luncheon in Jellico had over 30 women in attendance – each with a story of how they lost a loved one to heart disease.

Bright red balloons and tablecloths decorated the Jellico Library conference room Friday. It was an emotional gathering as the women talked about their husbands, brothers, mothers and sisters who died of a heart attack. Tears were shed around the room as the red clad women explained their personal experiences with heart disease.
