Cross-country runners from Campbell County High School have done well in the first two meets of the year.
Lauren Evans was girl’s runner-up at the recent Panther Creek Invitational season-opener near Morristown. She was 12 seconds behind the winner.
Dayne Deavours finished 12th in the boy’s race. Both are juniors.
During a much larger meet Saturday at Cherokee Blvd. in Knoxville, Evans and Deavours both ran personal-best times. Evans finished 6th in the girl’s race, while Deavours took 31st in the boy’s race.
Evans placed 3rd Tuesday night during a rematch at Panther Creek. James England (25th) posted the top finish for the CCHS boys in that race.
