Christian Academy basketball teams stay perfect

With an overflow crowd cheering on, both of the Christian Academy of Campbell County’s elementary age basketball teams posted victories Thursday night over neighboring public school rival Valley View to stay unbeaten this season.
The Lady Warriors (8-0) defeated the Lady Bobcats, 29-11, as Alecee Barnum scored a game-high 13 points, all in the first half.
Alexis Foster, Emily Russell and Katie Wells chipped in four points each for the Christian Academy; while Carissa Nance and Jakobi Bowman added two each.
Brittany Cupp led Valley View (2-3 overall) with five points, followed by Madison Brady with four, Blair Medley and Lexi Richardson one each.
In the boy’s contest, eight players scored for the Warriors (8-0 overall) during their 34-14 triumph. Zachary Wilson led the charge with 10 points, followed by Matthew Laxton with six; Jacob Isber, Carter Wells and Elijah Phillips four each; Trent Graves, Lucas Wilhoit and Ryan Rodderick two each.
Ben Arnold scored eight points to lead the Bobcats (0-4 overall), while Cole Brady had four and Noah Jackson two.
