Several Jacksboro Middle School track and field athletes competed in the Meet of Champions on May 8 at the Hardin Valley Academy.

Representing the Lady Eagle sprinters, Jessica Stanley competed in the 100-meter dash and finished 6th. In distance races, Kelsey Williams ran the 3,200 and finished 6th. Gracie Faulkner ran the 1,600 and 800 and finished 2nd in both races. Regan Lindsay, Bethany McKamey, Lexi Gross and Kelsey Williams finished 6th in the 4x800-meter relay. Zoie Mefford represented the JMS girls in field events with 2nd place in shot put.

On the boys’ side of the meet, Austin Raines finished 4th in discus and Jacob Bunch finished 4th in high jump.

“I know the kids were nervous for this meet, but they shook the nerves off and did a great job,” JMS coach Shaniell Nelson said. “As a first year coach, I have been blessed with a great group of athletes. While they have worked hard at practices and meets, they have also worked hard in the classroom and are representing Jacksboro Middle School very well. I am proud of them all.”
