LaFollette and Jacksboro split a varsity middle school basketball doubleheader Thursday night in which both games went right down to the wire.

The Lady Eagles pulled out a 35-31 victory against a scrappy LaFollette team.

Olivia Brown led Jacksboro (14-1 overall) with 10 points, followed by Krista Williams with 8, Whitney Williamson 7, Brooke Bane and Michaela Smith 4 each, and Courtney Charles 2.

Faith Evans paced the Lady Owls (9-11 overall) with 10 points, while Amber Guy had 8, Kendra King 7 and Sissy Bailey 6. Jacksboro led most of the game. LaFollette mounted a fourth-quarter rally with 12 points, half of those by Bailey.

LaFollette won the boy’s game, 31-25, to avenge an earlier loss to the Eagles.

Dakota Dossett and Roston Letner led the Owls with 8 points each, followed by Andrew Evans with 7, Austin North 4, Dallas Griffith 3 and Ethan Jeffers 1. Dossett and Letner had combined for only 7 points during a 42-36 home loss to Jacksboro on Jan. 4.

Jacksboro’s Darin Gillenwater led all scorers with 13 points during Thursday’s game. Trey Torres chipped in 7 points for the Eagles (5-3 district, 10-6 overall), while Dylan Clawson had 3 and Jesse Sharp 2.

The Area 2 Tournament begins next week at LaFollette.
