In an ongoing investigation, the Jellico Police Department was able to apprehend a local woman on charges of alleged prostitution.

Melanie J. Clark, 38, of Williamsburg, KY., allegedly made an arrangement with a police officer by promising to exchange sex for money, according to the arrest report.

Jellico patrolman Jeff Ivey arranged to meet Clark at the Dollar General Store where she would allegedly exchange elicit acts for the amount of $50, according to the report.

When Clark arrived at the store last Monday around 11:30 a.m. she was quickly apprehended at the scene, said Ivey in the report.

Clark was searched and was found to allegedly be in possession of a syringe and a marijuana pipe, said Ivey. Clark was charged with prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Ivey, the initial arrangement was caught on video. Clark has been released from the county jail with a bond of $1,000.
