The Jellico High School Lady Blue Devils softball team struggled in the district tournament, losing two games via shutout to end its season.

Hancock County defeated Jellico 10-0 in four-and-a-half innings on Monday at Sevier County High School.

Several errors hurt Jellico’s chances in the game.

Three errors in the bottom of the first contributed to a five-run inning for the Lady Indians.

Hancock County added to their lead in the bottom of the second, scoring two more, to make it 7-0.

Jellico didn’t get its first baserunner until the top of the third when Tiara Oaks was hit by a pitch, and the Lady Blue Devils didn’t get their first hit until two outs in the top of the fourth when senior Autumn Creekmore singled to right field.

Jellico got a runner on base only one other time in the game: when Oaks reached second base on an error with two outs in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Indians added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth, two of them scoring on an error, to set up the run-rule decision.

Jellico lost 16-0 to Washburn on Tuesday night, according to Cathy Baird.
