LaFOLLETTE—Detectives are investigating the death of Steven A. Phillips—a 40-year-old man, whose body was found in LaFollette Wednesday.

“We’re still investigating it thoroughly,” LaFollette Police Chief Jimmy Jeffries said.

The LaFollette Police Department received a call about Phillips’ body, which was found in a creek, Wednesday afternoon.

“After the body was recovered, it was sent to the University of Tennessee for an autopsy,” Jeffries said.

Dr. E. G. Cline, a medical xaminer, performed the autopsy Thursday. Detectives examined the results of the autopsy and gathered further evidence.

“All avenues are still open,” Jeffries said.

Det. Lieutenants Monty Miller, Steve Wallen and Josh Hill are investigating the case.
