Middle school girls, elementary boys qualify for state races

The girls’ middle school team from Campbell County has qualified for the state championships.
This is the first time since the Campbell County program started that an entire team has made it to state.  
The girls’ captured a fifth place team finish at the regional qualifier last week.
Three runners were awarded individual Top 40 honors: Gracie Faulkner, 8th; Katelyn Goins, 20th; andKelsey Williams, 29th. They will compete on Saturday for the final time this season and will be joined in the varsity race by Taylor Love, Carlie Love, Brooke Bane and Olivia Brown.
There will also be a junior varsity division. Participants from the Campbell County team will be Tavia Moore, Morgan Wilson, Stacy Morton and Caitlyn Davis.
Also taking team honors was the elementary boy’s team from Campbell County, which finished fifth. Finishing among the Top 40 were Eric Phillips, 6th; Blake Kibler, 14th; and Jared Bane, 32nd. The boys will also be competing at the state level. Rounding out the team will be Timmy Zupancic, Riley Faulkner, Ty Seiber, Ethan Cox, Nick Phillips and Connor Baird.
Lindsay Horton was 20th in the girl’s elementary division, running her season-best time of 6:44. Horton and Kayla Davis will compete in the state race at Victor Ashe Park.
