We have an unshakeable destiny because God is in control

You see and read all the news. Wars, starvation, disease and natural disasters of floods, fires and tornadoes. When we see all the pain in the world, it is easy to wonder if God is really in control. It seems like Satan is loose on earth to cause all of the problems, worry and fear that he can cause, but I’m telling you that we know who holds all our tomorrows and our futures and His name is King Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He is in control, and God is not bound by all of the systems that this world and mankind have set up. God is in charge and He is going to look out for those of us who love and trust His Holy Word.

The scriptures tell us that “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” Matthew 24:35. He instructs us to “come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28. God has plans for our lives. As we are faithful  to our Lord and the Church. As we keep the Lord active in our lives and not forget God, we can get through the storms and out, to the dawning of a new day, in victory if we don’t fall for Satan’s lies. We will make it. For we are not alone. God said “…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” Hebrews 13:5.

However unpredictable, fearsome, and seemingly out of control the world is, Christ is Lord and King of all. Although we cannot fully understand how he exercises his authority over daily events, we can trust fully that eternity is his and that we as adopted children of God, will exist in eternity, long after the present trials are over.

The Book of Hebrews is an interesting book to read, for it speaks of the Superiority of Christ and His work. It also is an exhortation for all Christians to hold fast the confession of our faith, and to encourage one another daily.

“See to it, brothers that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. but encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” Hebrews 3:12,13.

Hebrews 10 speaks of the danger of drawing back, and the 12thchapter speaks of things to come as we look ahead- past our years on this earth-to eternity- to a “kingdom that cannot be shaken” Hebrews 12:28.

We live in a world that is dominated by earthly power. World leaders and political systems threaten one another and compete for domination. But all these structures are transitory; they are shakable. Throughout history, kingdoms and countries have risen to power, only to crumble under the weight of their own blunders.

Yet God’s word and His kingdom will stand forever. Belief in Jesus Christ’s saving work on the cross make us citizens of God’s Kingdom, Colossians 1:13,14.

We have no need to fear any shaking that my come to this world, for we are on our way to the one unshakeable kingdom. In light of this, how should we live? “Let us have grace by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire” Hebrews 12:28,29.

The Bible teaches that the world system as we know it shall come to a close. We read in I John 2:17: “The world is passing away and the lust of it.” And in 2 Peter 3:10 we read: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night---.” It is God’s turn to act, and Scripture promises that He will act dramatically. Nothing is taking God by surprise. Events are moving rapidly toward some sort of climax, but it will be according to God’s time when Jesus Christ returns to be rightful Ruler of the world.

But before that time comes God wants to rule in your heart. The Bible says that “sin shall have no dominion over you” Romans 6:14, if Jesus Christ is in your heart as Lord and Master. There are two rulers. There is self, and there is Jesus Christ. Either self will reign and dominate, or Jesus Christ will reign and dominate. Who is your ruler? Is the Kingdom of God within you? If not I beg you to repent of your sins and receive Christ as your Savior. He loves you, and will forgive you. You can enter that new Kingdom that will be born under His leadership when He comes again.

From my heart.
