    The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (E.T.H.R.A.) will be distributing USDA Commodities on June 8, at the LaFollette Community Center. Starting time is 8:30 a.m., lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. It will end at 2:30 p.m. or when the food is gone. Bring a box and some one to carry the food. This program is funded in part by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Department of Human Services. For more information call E.T.H.R.A. at 562-2948.

    The Abbott Church of Lick Creek will have a benefit yard sale for Rachel Bolton on June 8 starting at 10 a.m. The money will go for a operation on her arm in Missouri.

    The House of Prayer of the Living God is having a benefit singing for Rachel Bolton. The singing will be June 9 at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go to help the family with travel and expenses for her trip to Missouri for her operation.

    A letter issued from the state comptroller’s office on Monday scrutinizes Jellico’s use of a line of credit used in purchasing its convention center and financing street paving.

  • Begley is back

    Tuesday night, the LaFollette City Council voted to rehire Paul Begley, the former project manager for the library.

    The council also agreed to pay him $2,000 to oversee the completion of the new library.

    “I’m real pleased to be back,” Begley said Wednesday morning.

    Begley had quit as project manager in late April. At the workshop on May 29, while interim city administrator Cade Sexton was reviewing the library project, Begley handed him a list of items needing completion.
