The proposed promotion of three officers took a turn for the worst at the LaFollette Council workshop this week.
Officers William Owens, Joe Brown and Jason Marlow have been working in the capacity of sergeants and were recommended for a salary increase of $1,500 per person to match their responsibilities.
“We can only work them so long without compensation for that,” said acting City Administrator Cade Sexton.
