The Campbell County High School soccer team defeated Union County 4-1 on the road April 9.
Campbell County got going early in the game, thanks to Carlos Espana, who netted a quick goal that gave Campbell County a 1-0 lead.
Union County didn’t fold after giving up the goal and continued to push and forced Campbell County to play in its defensive end for the majority of the first half.
Campbell County stayed connected defensively and waited for its chance to break on the counterattack, and the chance finally came near the 10-minute mark.
Jorge Paneda got the ball near midfield and charged into the Union County end before sending a blistering strike into the back of the net.
Campbell County maintained its 2-0 lead the remainder of the first half and took the lead into halftime.
Campbell County put its foot on the gas in the second half and controlled the game early.
Eli Davis did a great job of making attacking runs that caused chaos in the Union County defense.
Nathan Massengill had an exceptional game in net for Campbell County.
Espana and Braidin Ivey played great together on the wing in the second half and picked apart the defense.
Paneda found his second goal after putting home a free kick with 24:05 to play in the game after a Union County handball.
Campbell County continued to control the game in the second half with great passing and defensive responsibility.
Paneda scored his third goal of the game with 11:09 to play.
Union County scored a late goal on a soft penalty kick call, but that was all it was able to muster.
