The field for the Aug. 1 election is taking shape, more and more.
Both candidates for property assessor, incumbent Brandon Partin and challenger N. Marie Ayers, have filed their petitions, according to Campbell County Administrator of Elections Mallory Rosenfeld.
Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck has filed his petition to run for reelection, and so far, no one has picked up a petition to challenge him, as of Tuesday.
State Rep. Dennis Powers has filed his petition to run for reelection as well.
Ann Ayers-Colvin has filed her petition to run for Republican state executive committeewoman.
Former Campbell County High School Athletic Director Sherry Chapman has filed her petition to run for school board in District 1. Incumbent Lisa Fields picked up a petition, but as of Tuesday, had not filed it yet.
Incumbent Brent Lester filed his petition to run for school board in District 2. None of the others who picked up petitions to run for that seat — Dewayne “Mailman” Kitts, Marvin Rutherford and Bryan St. John — have filed their petitions, as of Tuesday.
Jessica Childress has filed her petition to run for school board in District 3. None of the others who picked up petitions to run for that seat — Brandon Johnson, Jacob Perkins and Jason Rutherford — have filed their petitions, as of Tuesday.
Incumbent Johnny Byrge has not even picked up a petition to run for re-election in District 3, as of Tuesday.
Both incumbent Josh James and challenger Jamie Wheeler, the former Campbell County High School principal, have filed their petitions to run for school board in District 4.
Ryne Cummins and Bob Walden, the LaFollette Elementary principal, have filed their petitions to run for school board in District 5. Incumbent Steve Morgan and Ned Smiddy Sr., had picked up petitions to run for that seat but had yet to file their petitions, as of Tuesday.
There is still time. The deadline to file a petition is April 4 at noon, and the deadline to withdraw from the race is April 11 at noon.
